Production Roles

Just realised that we never made it clear what our production roles are. So here they are -

Sarah Gillespie - I came up with the song and the idea and wrote the script (I guess that technically makes me director). After several joint storyboard-sessions, I did the final storyboard drawings and compiled the animatic. I designed the characters and did all line tests. Next year, when Ken leaves, I will be making all creative decisions myself.

Ken Shing Tse - primarily in charge of designing the environment. Has produced some lovely 3D models, and has been a massive help in storyboarding.

Feel free to add anything to this post, Ken - I've been animating all day and my brain is mush.

Hey, Ken here. Nah, that's fine. Think you covered everything. All I would add is that I'm putting the production bible together, but that isn't really a role, lol!

Oh, and quite possibly I'll still be around helping you beyond this year, so you won't be totally on your lonesome! :)

Environment influences

Hey, ken here. Incase anyone wondered what were my main inspirations for the environment designs, take a look at the following concept artists....
http://www.fengzhudesign.com/portfolio.html
http://www.ryanchurch.com
:)

In particular Feng Zhu's TMNT environments which are striking yet use minimal colour palettes. Ryan Church's work is technically masterful due to the lighting he incorporates into his work. He is extremely adept at creating a 3D space on a 2D medium and bringing his work to life.

Awesomesauce :D !

Smoke Snakes

A rather useful NHS ad - not only is it good inspiration for our smoke monster, it also persuades you to stop smoking. ;)

Logo?

Quickly cobbled together a new logo using the Weimar font (what else??) and this is what it looks like. Obviously if it went ahead it would need prettying up with colour etc.

What d'ya think?

Berlin

So I'm just back from a five-day visit to Berlin, and... it was AMAZING. The city is so diverse - from the improvised art-house Tascheles to the shiny new Sony Centre, and there's hidden artwork around every corner. The music scene is incredible, and I went to a couple of jazz clubs as well as a free classical concert and an organ concert in the rebuilt Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church. I'm bursting with new ideas (and a slightly worrying desire to re-work the entire project), as Berlin represents what I hope Innocence will in a year's time: the cycle of innocence, then destruction and eventual rebirth. It is a city in the process of regeneration, and I hope to weave some of that essence into this piece.
