Scene 2 Shot 1 - First Stages

Scene 2 Shot 1 - First Stages from Sarah Gillespie on Vimeo.

The movement is just about there, but I really wish I'd known more about corrective blend shapes earlier... now trying to figure out a way of detaching the rig and fixing the knees and shoulders without losing the animation! And I STILL haven't figured out exactly what to do with the skirt... urgh... oh, and of course the environment is to follow soon.

  1. Good effort!...will the skirts weights be painted to move with the legs?

  2. Can I suggest using a Lattice Deformer on the skirt. You can apply this after you have animated it and it means you will not need to worry about detaching the rig. Simply apply the lattice, then create clusters from points on the lattice. You can then animate the clusters to deform the shape of the skirt against the legs.

  3. Or alternatively - don't bind the skin, and use nCloth? I used nCloth in my Honours film, took a bit of fiddling but like anything, got there eventually! Means you can do all your character animation, then pop on some nCloth and let the simulation do the cloth animation for you :)
